Miss Kate is the Principal of the Nursery. She is based in the ‘Big class’ but spends time in both classrooms. Kate is a qualified teacher, gaining her teaching degree from Canterbury Christchurch University in 2003. Kate qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher for Early Years in 2008, supporting schools across the county with their EYFS provision. Before starting at Ripe Nursery School, Kate taught in both state and independent schools and was Head of Pre-Prep at a school in Brighton. Kate is the Nursery School SENCo. She is passionate about the care and eduction of young children and the provision of the best possible environment for enabling them to thrive and to love ‘school’! Kate ensures that the provision at Ripe Nursery School is at the forefront of new initiatives and research. In 2015 the Nursery School was invited to be part of the Uckfield ‘Early Excellence Hub’ which provides training and support to it’s members, who are Head Teachers, Reception Teachers and Nursery Practitioners. Kate will be delivering staff training for the hub in July 2016, focussing on the characteristics of effective learning in the Early Years.
Miss Julie is the Deputy and is based in the ‘Little Room’. Julie is our Welfare and Child Protection Officer. She has NVQ 3 in Child Care and is a qualified Paediatric First Aider. Julie has been at Ripe Nursery School for 19 years. She loves making children’s learning fun and exciting and is skilled at using children’s interests to spark their new learning.
Miss Katherine is based in the ‘Big Room’. She holds a B’Tec National Diploma in Nursery Nursing as well as being trained in Paediatric First Aid. Katherine has been at Ripe Nursery School for 11 years. She is skilled at joining in with children’s play and moving their learning forward and takes a lead in ‘transition to school’.
Miss Julie is based in the ‘Big Room’. She holds an NVQ2 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Julie has been at Ripe for 10 years. She is a qualified Paediatric First Aider and holds Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2. She is skilled in using our Montessori equipment and particularly enjoys supporting children’s mathematical learning.
Miss Mel is based in the ‘Big Room’. She holds NVQ2 in child care and is a qualified Paediatric First Aider. Mel has been at Ripe Nursery School for 8 years. She is a keen gardener and takes the lead with our ‘Growing’ and gardening work.
All of our staff are kept up to date with child protection training and the requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
