Kate
Miss Kate is the Principal of the Nursery. She is based in the ‘Wise Owls’ but spends time in all classrooms. Kate is a qualified teacher, gaining her teaching degree from Canterbury Christchurch University in 2003. Kate qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher for Early Years in 2008, supporting schools across the county with their EYFS provision. Before starting at Ripe Nursery School, Kate taught in both state and independent schools and was Head of Pre-Prep at a school in Brighton.  She is passionate about the care and eduction of young children and the provision of the best possible environment for enabling them to thrive and to love ‘school’!  Kate ensures that the provision at Ripe Nursery School is at the forefront of new initiatives and research.  In 2015 the Nursery School was invited to be part of the Uckfield ‘Early Excellence Hub’ which provides training and support to it’s members, who are Head Teachers, Reception Teachers and Nursery Practitioners.  Kate has delivered training for the hub, focussing on the characteristics of effective learning in the Early Years. Kate undertook her Masters in Early Years degree in 2017/2018 and has now become a ‘partner’ at Sussex University where she provides guest lectures and research support to students on the Masters course.
Julie
Miss Julie is the Deputy and is based in ‘The Nest’. Julie is our Welfare and Child Protection Officer. She has NVQ 3 in Child Care and is a qualified Paediatric First Aider. Julie has been at Ripe Nursery School for over 20 years. In 2018, Julie undertook a research project as part of the East Sussex ‘Baby Room Project’. She looked at interactions between staff and children and used her research to create a new settling in policy for the Nursery School, as well as presenting her research to other nursery practitioners in the area. Julie jointly runs our drop-in Baby and Toddler Group on a Thursday afternoon in Laughton. Julie loves making children’s learning fun and exciting and is skilled at using children’s interests to spark their new learning.

Katherine

Miss Katherine is based in ‘Wise Owls’. She holds a B’Tec National Diploma in Nursery Nursing as well as being trained in Paediatric First Aid. Katherine has been at Ripe Nursery School since 2004. She is skilled at joining in with children’s play and moving their learning forward and takes a lead in ‘transition to school’.
Julie_M
Miss Julie is based in the ‘Wise Owls’. She holds an NVQ3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Julie has been at Ripe since 2005. She is a qualified Paediatric First Aider and holds Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2. She is skilled in using our Montessori equipment and particularly enjoys supporting children’s mathematical learning.
Mel
Miss Mel is based in ‘The Nest’. She holds NVQ2 in child care and is a qualified Paediatric First Aider. Mel has been at Ripe Nursery School for over 10 years. She is a keen gardener and takes the lead with our ‘Growing’ and gardening work and has particularly enjoyed the challenge of a new garden to develop at The Nest!

Charlotte

Miss Charlotte is based in ‘Little Owls’. She holds an NVQ Level 4 in Childcare and in 2019 completed her Level 3 Forest School training meaning she is a fully qualified Forest School teacher.  Charlotte is passionate about outdoor learning and brings this into all of her activities. She runs our weekly Forest School sessions on a Monday afternoon and enjoys seeing children consider risks, challenge themselves and work creatively and collaboratively outside.  Charlotte is our Nursery School SENCo and she uses Makaton with all children to support their language development.  She is also a qualified paediatric first aider.
 

 

 

 

 

Tracey

Miss Tracey is based in ‘Little Owls’.  She holds NVQ Level 3 in Childcare.  Tracey enjoys finding fun ways for the children learn through their play, supporting their particular interests and fascinations both inside and outside.

Miss Mel is a trained Norland Nanny.  She works across all classrooms and provides cover when needed, meaning that the children always see familiar faces.  She is based in Wise Owls on Fridays and enjoys supporting children in their next steps, finding new and exciting ways to do so.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Miss Emma holds an NVQ 2 in childcare and provides regular cover for us when needed.

All of our staff are kept up to date with child protection training and the requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
